GovExec Daily: The Dangers of Schedule F

The Project on Government Oversight's Nick Schwellenbach joins the podcast to talk about the workforce order and its effect on the civil service.

A month after the Schedule F Executive Order signing, reports emerged that the Office of Management and Budget reclassified nearly 90% of its workforce into the new classification. OMB chief Russ Vought has repeatedly echoed the White House claim that Schedule F is a way to provide accountability, but nearly every public administration expert sees the order as an avenue to upend the professional civil service itself and replace it with cronyism and favoritism.

Nick Schwellenbach is a senior investigator at the Project on Government Oversight and the author of a post titled "Schedule Effed," in which he outlines the danger of a government that is less effective and more prone to abuses. He joined GovExec Daily to discuss how the Schedule F order will affect the federal workforce.
