Play of the Day: Who Will Replace Kirstjen Nielsen?

Perhaps Pennywise could head DHS.

Democratic 2020 hopeful and mayor of South Bend, Indiana Pete Buttigieg told CNN over the weekend that he has more executive government experience than the last two presidents. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about those questioning Buttigieg's statement, saying "those people forgot that our current president is a former game show host."

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, the face of the administration's family separation policy, reportedly was forced to resign on Sunday night. Late-night hosts joked about the news, with Late Show's Stephen Colbert joking that Nielsen is "leaving to spend more time separating her family," while Late Late Show's James Corden said that Nielsen was "deported from the White House." According to reports, President Donald Trump thought Nielsen was not enforcing the international law-defying family separation policy enough and that he wanted someone tougher on children at the border, so Colbert joked that we should all get ready for Homeland Security chief Pennywise. Another report said that Trump called Nielsen early in the morning to demand more action on immigration. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked about the report, telling the audience "we're all traumatized by Trump's tweets at 5 a.m. Now imagine if the tweets came into your bedroom every morning."
