Play of the Day: The Month-to-Month Government

Government funding comes in fits and starts in the United States.

President Donald Trump is leaving this week for a 16-day trip to his Mar-a-Lago resort for the holidays. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying that a trip like that is usually called "moving."

The Congress is working on a short-term bill that would fund the government until Feb. 8. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the timing, saying furloughed government employees would get candy hearts with the status on them as an early Valentine's Day gift. Fallon joked about the short-term bill, saying that the month-to-month funding means "if the U.S. were a department store, we'd be Sears."
