GovExec Daily: Rural America and the Census

University of Mississippi's Dr. John Green joins the podcast to discuss the difficulties facing non-metropolitan communities during the decennial count.

Every census is difficult, but the 2020 count got even harder this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Because the statistics taken from the count determine federal funding, congressional appropriation and other important things, different parts of the countries are facing different challenges. Rural communities, in particular, have unique challenges that suburban and urban ones may not.

Dr. John Green is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Mississippi and he joined GovExec Daily to discuss the challenges facing the 2020 count in rural communities.
