After the Virginia race was called for the Democrat, the president took to social media.

After the election, Trump took to Twitter to say "Ed Gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what I stand for," prompting late-night hosts to joke about the relationship. The Opposition's Jordan Klepper joked about Trump's use of the word "embrace," while Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked that Trump's work ethic. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah noted Trump's quick rejection of Gillespie, saying Trump may do the same for the U.S. economy if things go south.
