Play of the Day: Boehner is Leaving Just in Time for Halloween

The Ohioan's imminent exit provides fodder for late-night hosts.

Pope Francis wrapped up his visit to the United States Sunday, but Last Week Tonight's John Oliver found time in the show to joke about the pontiff. Oliver joked about Americans' reaction to the event as well as Pope Francis' wardrobe for his trip.

Speaker of the House John Boehner's resignation was a big topic of humor for hosts over the weekend. The Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the pressures of the job, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon mocked Boehner's name (and john McCain's age, in the process). Colbert and Real Time's Bill Maher also mocked Boehner's famed skin tone, whith Maher mentioning the real reason Boehner is stepping down and Colbert comparing Boehner to leather goods. Be sure to check out Colbert explaining why Boehner's Halloween-adjacent timing is impeccable at 1:40.
