Senior Executives Association President Will Retire in November

Carol Bonosaro will become president emeritus; group to announce new leader soon.

Carol Bonosaro, the long-time president of the Senior Executives Association, is retiring effective Nov. 4.

“It is with very mixed feelings that I leave the association,” said Bonosaro, who has served as SEA president for 29 years. “I have been extremely fortunate to do work about which I am passionate and to meet and interact with talented career executives with critical responsibilities, many of whose accomplishments have been extraordinary. It’s been an incredible journey, but I am looking forward to my new role and helping to ensure that SEA will continue to be successful in representing the interests of the career federal executive service.”

Bonosaro will become president emeritus after she retires.

SEA will announce its new president, which the group has selected already, “in the near future,” according to a statement.

Bonosaro, who served 25 years in government before taking the helm at SEA, created the annual Presidential Distinguished Rank Award banquet in 1986 to honor top senior executives. She also led the group’s effort to repeal a provision in the 2012 STOCK Act that required the online publication of career senior executives’ financial information. The group had privacy and national security concerns over the provision.

Bonosaro, who said it was time for her to “smell the roses,” will move to Boynton Beach, Fla., where her daughter lives.

“While we will be installing a new president to lead the association,” said SEA Board Chair Barbara Pabotoy, “we will never be able to replace Carol.”
