Ex-deputy nominated to
head FDA
President Clinton has nominated University of New Mexico cancer specialist Jane Henney to become the first female chief of the Food and Drug Administration, the Associated Press reports. Henney was deputy FDA administrator from 1992 to 1994.
"There is no greater honor than to be asked to return to public service and to lead the FDA, an agency that plays such a vital role in protecting and promoting the health of the American people," Henney said through a spokesman.
