There’s Still Time to Sign Up for Flexible Spending Accounts

Federal employees were granted an extension for enrolling in FSAFEDS.

Thanks to “technical issues,” federal employees have been granted more time to sign up for flexible spending accounts in 2015. The FSAFEDS enrollment window has been extended through Wednesday, Dec. 10, according to a notice on the benefit program’s website.

By establishing flexible savings accounts, workers can set aside a portion of their salary before taxes to pay for qualified health care and dependent care expenses. The plans offer employees a way to save for those bills as well as reduce their tax burden.

Generally, all federal employees qualify for dependent care flexible savings accounts and any federal employee eligible for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program may participate in a health care FSA. For more information about eligibility, visit the FSAFEDS.com website.

Feds may enroll online or by calling a benefits counselor at 1-877-FSAFEDS (372-3337) during the following call center hours:

  • Tuesday, December 9th: 9:00am - 9:00pm, Eastern time
  • Wednesday, December 10th: 9:00am - 9:00pm, Eastern time
