GovExec Daily: Reducing Lobbyist and Corporate Influence

Courtney Bublé joins the podcast to discuss a letter from House Democrats to Senate leadership urging against lobbyists in the executive branch.

Most everyone agrees that lobbyists shouldn't be writing regulatory policy, but the revolving door of lobby shops, think thanks and government means that a lot of lobbyists and lobby-connected individuals end up in government, including senate-confirmed positions.

Some House Democrats are trying to change that. Last week, a group sent a letter to Senate leaders, urging them not to confirm any lobbyists or corporate clients or high-level executives from private corporations for appointments in the Trump or future presidential administrations. Courtney Bublé joined the program to discuss the letter and its implications.
