Play of the Day: Another Eventful Twitter Day With the President

Donald Trump told four members of Congress to "go back…from which they came."

Rep. Eric Swallwell was the first candidate to drop out of the 2020 Democratic primary race last week, though more than 20 candidates still remain. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that the low-polling Swallwell left the race "after realizing that he didn't know which one he was either."

President Donald Trump echoed an old racist canard by telling four progressive non-white Democratic members of Congress to "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came" after they criticized the president and called for his impeachment. Meyers joked about Trump's origin, saying "you're from Queens. I would say you should go back and fix it, but I don't think any of the trains are running," while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that it's more shocking that "we won't be talking about this in two days." Trump defended his tweets at the White House, saying "if they don't like it here, they can leave," prompting Jimmy Kimmel to joke "as soon as he said that, Melania started running to the airport."
