Play of the Day: The President Reacts To The Notre Dame Fire

Donald Trump tweeted that French authorities "must act quickly."

Over the weekend, South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg officially announced that he is running for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying the gay midwestern veteran is "perfect for anyone who looks at Trump and says 'gimme the exact opposite of that.'"

Twelfth century cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris caught fire on Monday for hours and sustained significant damage. During the first hours of the blaze, President Donald Trump tweeted from Air Force One a suggestion of "flying water tankers" (which French authorities explained could destroy the structure of the cathedral) and wrote that the French "Must act quickly!" to contain the fire. Jimmy Kimmel joked about the tweet, saying "I'm glad someone was thinking quickly enough to tell them to act quickly," while Conan O'Brien had some fake Trump tweets in response to the fire, including Trump thinking Paris is in Spain and referencing the Catholic university in Indiana.
