Play of the Day: The State of the Union, Joshua Trump and Nancy Pelosi
Late-night gets another shot at the president's big speech.
As per annual tradition, President Donald Trump spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning. Joking about it beforehand, Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that every breakfast Trump attends is a prayer breakfast because he prays for pancakes.
Two huge viral moments came out of Tuesday night's State of the Union address. The first was when Joshua Trump, the the 11-year-old guest of Melania Trump because he was bullied for his last name, fell asleep during the speech. Full Frontal's Samantha Bee joked that the boy was now "the bravest person in Congress," while Late Show's Stephen Colbert noted that "watching someone else's grandpa" give a 82-minute speech is not a popular pastime of children. The other viral moment was when Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed to sarcastically clap at Trump's calls for bipartisanship. Meyers called it "when your husband puts the toilet paper on the roller," while Late Late Show's James Corden called it "the government shutdown."
