Agencies in Washington Area Close Friday Due to Wind Storm
Emergency employees and those scheduled to telework still expected to report.
Federal agencies in the Washington region will be closed on Friday as a storm hits the area delivering high winds during the morning rush hour, the Office of Personnel Management announced.
Emergency employees and those who were scheduled to telework must still work, OPM said. Employees traveling outside of the region for official duty will also be expected to report as normal.
The storm moving up the East Coast was expected to bring sustained winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts as high as 70 miles per hour on Friday, potentially knocking down trees and causing widespread power outages. The National Weather Service warned that travel could be hazardous. Further up the coast, the storm was expected to produce flooding and blizzard-like conditions.
