Biden: 'Amazing' that bin Laden mission plans weren't leaked
Multiple members of Congress were briefed on the planning for the mission for months.
Vice President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he found it "absolutely amazing" that plans to kill Osama bin Laden were never leaked, despite multiple members of Congress knowing of the plans.
Speaking at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Atlantic Council, Biden praised the "capacity and the dedication of the entire team -- both the intelligence community, the CIA, the SEALs. It was extraordinary," according to news reports.
But Biden was most shocked that no one prematurely spilled the beans on the operation.
"What was even more extraordinary was-and I'm sure former administration officials would appreciate this more than anyone-there was such an absolute, overwhelming desire to accomplish this mission that although for over several months we were in the process of planning it -- and there were as many as 16 members of Congress that were briefed on it -- not a single, solitary thing leaked."
The vice president, in his first public remarks since bin Laden's death was announced on Sunday, said the mission sends a message to the world, that "there's no place to hide."
