Play of the Day: What the Storming of the Hearing Room Really Looked Like

When a group of Republican Congressmen storm a hearing, there are lots of comparisons.

Sen. John Cornyn said this week that he did not pay attention to Bill Taylor's testimony this week on the Ukraine call that sparked the impeachment inquiry because he is "doing important things." Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the news, saying "'doing important things' is definitely what you say when you're not doing important things."

On Wednesday, a group of Republican members of Congress stormed a secure hearing room to disrupt closed-door testimony related to the impeachment inquiry. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying "nothing says 'completely innocent' like storming a room of someone about to testify." Late-night hosts had a lot of jokes about the demographics of the group doing the storming, with Late Late Show's James Corden joking "I haven't seen that many old white guys storm a room since Applebee's offered half off surf 'n turf," Meyers joked that the group looked like a "protest at a pharmacy that ran out of Viagra" and Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked that the group looked like "a Black Friday sale on pleated khakis."
