Play of the Day: Say Goodbye to John Bolton… And His Mustache

The president has lost another top advisor.

According to reports, Commerce Chief Wilbur Ross threatened to fire top officials at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for not backing up President Donald Trump's erroneous tweets about Hurricane Dorian's path. Late Late Show's James Corden joked about the news, saying that it makes sense that the Commerce chief is devious because Ross looks like a real-life version of Mr. Burns from The Simpsons.

Trump announced that he fired National Security Advisor John Bolton on Tuesday morning, though Bolton claims he resigned before Trump fired him. Late-night hosts had some fun with Bolton's distinctive look, with Late Night's Seth Meyers comparing the mustachioed Bolton to the Lorax and The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon saying he looks like a walrus or a 18th-century prospector. Trump said he would fill the role next week, prompting late-night hosts to speculate on his next pick. Jimmy Kimmel joked that Trump's options are Sgt. Slaughter from WWE and Cap'n Crunch from the cereal aisle, while Late Show's Stephen Colbert – referencing the rumor that Bolton was picked because of his time at Fox News – joked that the "My Pillow guy" is next in line.
