Play of the Day: The President Had Some Guests for His United Nations Speech
Donald Trump spoke at the General Assembly and his adult children attended. So did Wilbur Ross.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House would launch a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump on Tuesday after reports came out that a whistleblower filed a complaint about Trump asking Ukraine for potential assistance in the 2020 election. Being that impeachment can be brought forth over "high crimes and misdemeanors," Late Late Show's James Corden noted the vagueness of the term, but showed an album cover and said "it's an excellent name for a mixtape."
Trump spoke at the United Nations on Tuesday morning and spoke the praises of nationalism at a meeting of international leaders. Conan O'Brien joked about Trump decrying illegal immigration, saying the president say all the foreign leaders and said "how did you people even get in here?" Trump's adult children watched the speech in the room, prompting Corden to joke that the scene was the "worst episode of Succession ever," while O'Brien joked that Trump still doesn't know who his daughter Tiffany is. Commerce chief Wilbur Ross seemed to doze off during the speech, so The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that it got very awkward when Ross started to spoon the delegate in front of him while he slept.
