Play of the Day: Declaring an Emergency and Heading to the Omelette Bar

The president was at Mar-a-Lago after his Friday announcement.

Monday was Presidents Day. Mattress stores often have sales during the holiday, prompting The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon to joke that President Donald Trump is going to buy 2,000 miles of mattresses for the border.

Trump declared a national emergency in a speech on Friday in a ceremony in the Rose Garden. Trump said “I could do the wall over a much longer period of time…I didn't need to do this," prompting Late Show's Stephen Colbert to joke that Trump's move was like calling an ambulance to go to the movies. After declaring the emergency, Trump headed to Mar-a-Lago and a photo of him at the omelette bar went viral. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the photo, comparing it to the photo of President Barack Obama in the situation room during the bin Laden raid, while Fallon joked that Trump's order was "Spanish omelette, hold the Spanish."
