Play of the Day: Andrew McCabe Had a Terrible Birthday Weekend
Getting fired is no one's idea of a good birthday.
According to a new Monmouth University poll, most Americans are concerned about the United States government spying on them. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about the poll, saying Americans' microwaves are saying "no, we're not!"
President Donald Trump instructed the Justice Department to fire 22-year FBI veteran and former acting director Andrew McCabe upon advice of the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility, though many think it to be politically motivated. McCabe was fired a day before his pension fully vested on his 50th birthday, so late-night hosts joked about the firing. Meyers joked that McCabe and James Comey took similar notes while dealing with Trump, while The Opposition's Jordan Klepper called McCabe "Swampy." About the timing of his termination, Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked that Trump gave McCabe a special birthday card, while The Daily Show joked that Trump will likely have a surprise gift for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's next birthday.
