The president used curious language to describe his administration's push to cut regulations.
The FCC voted to roll back net neutrality rules on Thursday, prompting an outcry all over the Internet. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked that it's now time to jump on Canada's wifi, while The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that more Americans would be in favor of the FCC decision if it meant blocking Twitter from the White House.
President Donald Trump held an event Thursday to unveil the administration's latest agenda of deregulatory actions and to tout the White House progress on cutting regulations. Echoing Bill Clinton, Trump cut a ribbon with oversized scissors next to stacks of paper as part of the event, prompting Late Night's Seth Meyers to joke that the lack of regulations made the "scissors fell apart, a dolphin choked on the ribbon and the paper burst into flames." Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about Trump's tweet celebrating the event, noting that the cutting of regulations doesn't exactly "SET FREE OUR DREAMS," as the president tweeted and mocked the ribbon cutting, saying the event means Trump is also "eliminating the Department of Visual metaphors."
