Play of the Day: Donald Trump Has Missiles… And Cake

President Donald Trump reversed course on NATO last week, saying the alliance is "no longer obsolete." Last Week Tonight's John Oliver noted this switch, comparing it to a flat-earther admitting the world is round. Sure, it's a good step, but he shouldn't have believed it in the first place.

Trump sat down for an interview with Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo and recounted the evening he spent with Chinese President Xi Jinping and ordered a missile strike on Syria. In describing the events, he said "we had the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you've ever seen," prompting Saturday Night Live's Michael Che to joke "You don't know what cakes I've seen" and Oliver to note that only Trump could turn a conversation about missiles into an ad for the Mar-a-Lago kitchen. Che and Oliver also noted that Bartiromo corrected Trump when he said the military fired missiles at Iraq, with Oliver joking that Bartiromo could've said anything and Trump would've agreed. Che joked about the interview by saying Trump's management style reminds him of Homer Simpson running the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant: We're asking about deadly strikes but all he can think about is cake.
