Play of the Day: The GOP Convention Has Begun
Delegations are walking out, Mike Pence is Trump's VP pick and Sarah Palin is absent because Alaska is very very far away.
Donald Trump announced Indiana governor Mike Pence as his VP pick over the weekend and late-night TV took notice. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the 60 Minutes interview setup, Late Night's Seth Meyers joked about Pence's Tea Party affiliation and Full Frontal's Samantha Bee joked about Pence's manner of describing himself.
With the GOP convention's rollout Monday night, jokes flew fast and furious. Meyers joked about the venue and Colbert joked about the marijuana-coincidental timing of the Colorado delegation's walkout. Bee joked about all the prominent Republicans not attending the election, including former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Notably, Trump said Palin would miss the convention because Alaska is "a long ways away" as though Trump himself doesn't own an airplane.
