Play of the Day: Kasich and Cruz Are the Bootleg Wonder Twins

The dynamic duo is taking on Donald Trump, but their powers aren't really strong enough.

Wildly popular HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones premiered its sixth season Sunday and Late Night's Seth Meyers connected the series to the 2016 election. There's a Jon who may or may not be dead, someone devious called Littlefinger and an ominous constant force on the horizon.

In anticipation of primaries next week in Indiana, New Mexico and Oregon, John Kasich and Ted Cruz are forming an alliance to prevent Donald Trump from winning enough delegates to secure the GOP nomination. Both Meyers and Full Frontal's Samantha Bee called the new team the Wonder Twins, a reference to a mediocre 1970s cartoon duo with limited powers. Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about Trump's ability to beat a duo, considering he's fought a tag team before, while Jimmy Kimmel noted that this strategy is a great one… three months ago. Because the strategy's goal is a brokered convention, Bee joked about the sanctity of the event, considering Sarah Palin and Clint Eastwood have graced past convention stages and Colbert predicted what Trump's supporters would do in Cleveland and tied the news to the only thing that actually mattered this weekend.
