Play of the Day: Stabbing, Pyramids and a Portrait
The media continues to scrutinize the Ben Carson 2016 campaign.
The Ben Carson 2016 roller coaster ride continued Monday on late-night television after last week's Guardian photos of the artwork dotting Carson's Maryland home. Specifically, one painting was in the front of everyone's mind: A portrait of Jesus Christ with his hand on Carson's shoulder as they both don white robes. Late Night's Seth Meyers joked that it looked like something a record producer painted in rehab, Conan O'Brien made a Larry King joke and The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon said it looked more like Billy Ocean and Nicholas Cage than Carson and Christ.
Comedians also joked Monday about Carson's claims about and his views on the use of the Egyptian pyramids in ancient times. Late Show's Stephen Colbert said Carson may have gotten his pyramid idea from an old USDA diagram, while The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joked about Egyptian hieroglyphics. Noah also noted the strange nature of Carson trying to convince everyone he did stab people, while also examining who Carson was trying to stab in his now-infamous story.
