The first Democratic debate of the 2016 election cycle was Tuesday night, with late-night shows analyzed it Wednesday. The big moment of Bernie Sanders defending hillary Clinton was fodder for Late Show's Stephen Colbert and Late Night's Seth Meyers as they both joked about Sanders' age.

The real star of the debate -- for all the wrong reasons -- was former Rhode Island governor and senator Lincoln Chafee. His response to a question about his Senate vote on the Glass–Steagall Act had The Daily Show's Trevor Noah comparing him to a child losing his ice cream, while Colbert compared him to a student unprepared for class.
