Play of the Day: Ted Cruz Wants to Abolish the IRS
The Texan proposes a flat tax. But who will collect the flat tax revenue?
President Barack Obama is set to meet Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Washington soon, despite the Iraqi leader's recent criticisms of American foreign policy. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon imagined Obama's reaction and it includes quoting the inimitable Taylor Swift and a play on a-Abadi's name.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz's announcement that he will run for president is still reverberating on late-night television as hosts delve deeper into his record. David Letterman looked at other Republicans' comments about Cruz, while Conan O'Brien examined recent comments Cruz made about his music choices in a post-Sept. 11 world.
O'Brien and The Nightly Show Host Larry Wilmore highlighted one of the Tea Party favorite's most notable proposals: Abolishing the IRS. Wilmore, specifically, wondered about Cruz's flat tax and which agency would be responsible for collections.
