Hillary Clinton Puts Down Roots in Midtown Manhattan

Office space isn't a campaign headquarters; it will be used to relocate Clinton's personal staff.

Hillary Clinton is leasing a big new office near Times Square in Manhattan, but it's not for the reason you might think.

The 19-office space that the former secretary of State reportedly leased for two years won't be used as a headquarters for her possible 2016 presidential campaign but merely as a new home base for her personal staff, Business Insider reported on Wednesday.

The celebrity site Hollywood Life broke the news of the lease and wondered whether it was a big giveaway for The Decision.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill quashed that speculation, however, and said Clinton was relocating her staff from their previous headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The new space will give her about a 50-minute commute by car from her home in Chappaqua, N.Y. And of course she's just a short subway ride away from husband Bill's offices in Harlem.

Clinton based her 2008 campaign out of Ballston, Va., outside of Washington. In 2016, the woman who grew up in Illinois, went to college in Massachusetts and law school in Connecticut, served as first lady of Arkansas, followed her husband's job to Washington and then represented New York in the United States Senate will have plenty of options for headquarters.
