With each new detail coming out about the National Security Agency’s digital surveillance program , a new joke blossoms for a late-night host. More information about NSA leaker Edward Snowden’s is filtering out, including the revelation that the girlfriend he left had a YouTube channel of her dancing, bringing Daily Show host John Oliver and The Late Show ’s David Letterman both commenting on her videos. Letterman also wondered if the NSA was getting useful information in every piece of information they collect, showing a video called “Least Useful NSA Intercepts.”
Conan O’Brien and Stephen Colbert looked at the controversy on a larger level, with Colbert asking about the nature of Internet privacy and O’Brien mocking the literacy of the American public. Colbert also looked at the new data center the NSA is building in Utah and the scale of data it can process.
