Because of incorrect information from the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, the current participation rate for active-duty service members in the Thrift Savings Plan was overstated in this story. The actual rate of growth is approaching 40 percent, having grown from 38.4 percent in February to 38.4 percent in March, according to a correction requested by the board. Tom Trabucco, director of external affairs for the board, said the incorrect numbers appeared by mistake in March and April reports released at board meetings. "We regret these errors," he told Government Executive, "and I apologize to you and your readers who took notice or developed a point of view based on the incorrect percentage rate."
