On Furloughed FAA workers will receive back pay

After taxes, you'll get peanuts. Don't believe you'll get every dollar either; they'll come up with some scheme to screw you.

Oh sure

I accept. With thanks.

J in CA

It is good news that FAA employees will be paid retroactively. That amount should be deducted from the paychecks of the Congressional members who failed to act on time to avoid the furlough in the first place.

On Retirement plan funds continue downward spiral

Stock fund shares are now at discount prices. This is actually a plus - unless you were planning to liquidate your accounts in the next 6 months. In all other scenarios, its better to buy low (like now) and don't sell until share prices rise.

Don

The TSP board should be in prison. There are bear funds that are up 300 percent this year.

Hermy

Hey guys, the time to buy F, S and I funds was earlier this year. The time to have sold was late summer time. Now you should consider sidelining all your TSP funds into the G fund (treasury and bonds) and wait it out. This almost has the repeat scenerio of October 2008. Remember most stock market crashes have occured in October. Go into the G fund until the end of this year then reconsider the stock market. Remember YOU make the choices about how well your portfollio does, not these administrators everyone is upset with. Stay in the G fund, it is safer for now....

On Government to unveil COLAs on Oct. 19

So, retiree's cost of living rose, but active working Feds have not?

Don

Yeah I know - Federal retirees should just be glad they're alive when so many people don't have jobs...

Skeeter

we may get a cola for retirement, but it will be eaten up by the health insurance hike. so what do we get??? nothing

Sam

On 20 of the All-Time Greatest Feds: The List

You should have included John C. Garand, designer/inventor of the Garand M-1 rifle. That rifle contributed to saving many Americans during WWII through Korea and later by giving them a reliable, powerful weapon. Mr. Garand was a civil servent working at the Springfield Armory. To my knowledge he never received any additional renumberation above his salary for his design.

Interesting to note 30% were veterans...

What about John Berry who implemented Hiring Reform? Let's not all laugh at once.

Whatabout

Rachel Carson - responsible for initiating the environmental movement with her book "Silent Spring.".

On Bachmann speaks on border agent controversy

Guess she has been too busy running her mouth to read any articles about the tunnels and people going over the fences. Typical, come up with a sound bite and think she is saying something important.

miked

Amazing...illegals breaking many of our laws crossing our border smuggling Lord only knows what with them and WE get sued. My kids and grandkids don't have a prayer. When is the insanity going to stop?

Polly

The article took her comments out of context. What she said was that she would build a fence around her district. To heck with the rest of the country! No new taxes, and everybody fend for themselves!!!

Amazed

On Panel urges Congress to scrap annual budget process

Great! Then we could worry about government shutdowns 10 times every two years instead of five times each year,

BobF

It doesn't matter how often they are supposed to pass a budget, it still will not happen. They don't know how to make a budget much less pass one into law. Have you looked at the budget? Any budget that starts with discretionary spending is not a budget. You have to start with needs and then if money is left over you work wants into your budget. When the government is run by idiots we the citizens pay the price.

Phil

And here all the progressives thought they would have a pre-signed open check book for the next eight years, sorry about that. Taxpayers don't buy into your pet projects to share the wealth. Try hitting up your own, they seem to have plenty of money to re-elect libs to all offices, doesn't mean the taxpayers will fund your games after.

Herb

Finally, somebody is thinking.

On Play of the Day -- With Christie out, Hank Williams Jr. or small children for president

Again, this left-slanting, right-bashing humor has no place on GovExec.com.
I have a great sense of humor, but the smearing of the right has got to stop on this website.

Fed

Why are there never any funny video clips about Obama??? Surely you can find something funny about Marxism at its finest!

Right Wing FED

Take a good look at the US media and how it portrays Obama. The exact same way the state run media in Russia is portraying Putin. See the great Russian president scuba diving the other day? TOTAL SET UP.
