Burning Question: Do some people really think IRS building attacker was 'American hero'?
Facebook moves to shut down fan pages of man who flew plane into office building.
You might think that deliberately flying a plane into a building filled with federal employees would earn someone universal condemnation. But you would be wrong.
Crimesider, the true crime blog of the CBS program "48 Hours Mystery," reported Friday that in the wake of reports that Joseph Andrew Stack had flown a small plane into a building in Austin Texas, that housed IRS offices, several Facebook fan pages devoted to Stack cropped up.
"Finally an American man took a stand against our tyrannical government that no longer follows the Constitution," wrote one supporter.
Facebook has shut down several such pages, but as of Friday afternoon, they appeared to still be cropping up.
Even some of the commenters on the Crimesider blog seem to have limited sympathy for IRS employees. "I don't condone Stack's action...," one wrote. "But what I am really mad about is all the freaking IRS workers posting comments here during work hours. You are wasting my hard earned money so get you[r] butts back to work!"
