The Navy will award its multibillion dollar intranet contract today at 5 p.m., Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Navy Secretary Richard J. Danzig and department officials will give an overview of the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) this afternoon at 12:45 at a Pentagon press briefing. In accordance with Defense Department procurement regulations, the Navy will officially announce the award recipient this evening at 5 p.m.
The briefing will be carried live on channel 13 of the Pentagon cable television system and online at www.defenselink.mil/briefings.
Four industry bidders-Computer Sciences Corp., Electronic Data Systems Corp., General Dynamics Corp., and IBM Corp.-are vying for the initial five-year contract, which comes with a $10 billion price tag.
