FBI whistleblowers file suit
Three former FBI employees have filed suit in U.S. District Court against the Clinton administration, saying it failed to protect whistleblowers, the Associated Press has reported.
The employees claim that Attorney General Janet Reno failed to implement a 1989 federal law requiring whistleblower protection for FBI employees.
A spokesman for the Justice Department told the AP that the department is almost finished drafting the protections.
Two of the three whistleblowers worked in FBI labs, while the third is a former FBI agent. "Each of the plaintiffs suffered adverse or prohibited personnel actions as a result of their protected whistleblower disclosures," the lawsuit said.
