TAINTED MEET AT THE WHITE HOUSE-"Some years, the annual National Governors' Association dinner at the White House is a chance for presidential hopefuls to size up the digs and see if they might want to move in. Last night's dinner, though -- at what is typically a good, midterm time for governors to float balloons about running for the Oval Office -- was permeated by the possibility of a military strike on Iraq"(The Washington Post).

OPM TRIBUTE- The Office of Personnel Management will pay tribute to former OPM Director Dr. Allan K. "Scotty" Campbell on Wednesday, February 25, 1998, at 3 p.m. in the OPM Auditorium (OPM press release).

NEW QUOTA WEIGHED FOR IMMIGRANT TECHNOLOGY WORKERS-"Under pressure from Congress and the computer industry, the White House is seriously considering proposals to increase the immigration quota for computer scientists and other information-technology workers, so that foreigners can fill thousands of job openings in the United States" (The New York Times).
