CLINTON PLANS BOSNIA VISIT TO SEE TROOPS-"President Clinton has decided to fly to Bosnia next week, both to spread some holiday cheer among U.S. peacekeeping forces there and to underscore what he believes is the need for an extended American presence to finish reconstructing the war-torn country" (The Washington Post).
APPOINTMENT OF LEE ON ACTING BASIS WOULD UPSET GOP LESS, HATCH SUGGESTS-"Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah, said President Clinton can minimize retaliation from Republicans if he gives Bill Lann Lee an acting appointment to the nation's top civil rights post rather than putting a "finger in the eye of the Senate" by making a formal appointment" (The Washington Post).
