Clinton Makes Raises Official
President Clinton on Monday issued an executive order authorizing a 2.8 percent pay raise for most federal workers and senior executives, with smaller increases for federal judges, members of Congress and Vice President Al Gore.
The raises, which were approved in August, take effect Thursday.
Civilian federal workers get a raise of 2.3 percent plus locality adjustments that average 0.5 percent. All members of the military will get a 2.45 percent raise.
The order authorizes pay raises of 2.3 percent for Vice President Gore, federal judges and members of Congress. The vice president's pay rises to $175,400 and pay for Congress members rises to $136,700.
President Clinton's annual salary will remain at $200,000.
