1998 Federal Holidays Set

The Office of Personnel Management has set the federal holiday schedule for 1998. Ten days are official holidays for government employees.

Because Independence Day falls on a Saturday in 1998, federal employees will have Friday, July 3 off. In 1997, President Clinton gave the federal workforce an extra holiday on Dec. 26 because Christmas fell on a Thursday. In 1998, Christmas falls on a Friday.

Here is a 1998 calendar of federal holidays:

New Years Day Thursday, January 1
Martin Luther King, Jr., Birthday Monday, January 19
Washington's Birthday Monday, February 16
Memorial Day Monday, May 25
Independence Day Friday, July 3
Labor Day Monday, September 7
Columbus Day Monday, October 12
