CBO SAYS TVA SALE COULD NET BILLIONS-"Sale of the electric power assets of the Tennessee Valley Authority and the five power-marketing administrations could save the federal government as much as $16 billion, the Congressional Budget Office estimated"(The Washington Post).

VETO PEN IS IDLE-"President Clinton did not use his line-item veto power to strike any provisions of the fiscal 1998 spending bill for the departments of Labor and Health and Human Services, the administration said yesterday" (The Washington Post).

THE FEDERAL DIARY-"When it comes to health plan choices and coverage, government retirees are often better off than people who retire from the private sector" (The Washington Post).

Government Technology Leadership Institute
