Bin Laden spent his last years on the run in Pakistan, wife says

Al Qaeda leader moved among five safe houses, fathered four children.

Osama bin Laden spent the last nine years of his life moving from safe house to safe house in Pakistan, his youngest wife told Pakistani investigators, according to The New York Times. During that time, he fathered four children, at least two of whom were born in a government hospital.

Amal Ahmad Abdul Fateh, who was shot in the leg in the Navy SEAL commando raid that killed the al Qaeda leader last May, said bin Laden moved among five safe houses in Pakistan over the years after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Fateh’s testimony is contained in a police report from Jan. 19. Fateh and bin Laden’s other two widows are currently under house arrest in Islamabad, and their lawyer told the Times that he expects them and their two adult children to be charged on Monday with breaking Pakistani immigration laws.
