Professor Ali Abbas's research focuses on decision analysis, risk analysis, multi-attribute utility theory, and data-based decision-making. He is widely published in books, journals, and conference publications and has shared his expertise through television appearances, CNN opinions, TEDx, and other invited talks. He is the author of Foundations of Decision Analysis (with Ronald Howard), Foundations of Multi-attribute Utility, and Ethical Decision Quality: Building an Ethical Decision Culture. He is also the editor of numerous books, including "Improving Homeland Security Decisions" and "Next-Generation Ethics" by Cambridge University Press. He has engaged in multiple public research projects, including analyzing expedited screening decisions and tackling crime as a system problem.
