A Day in the Life of the NAVY

On any given day, the Navy is involved in a range of missions from combat operations in the Persian Gulf to humanitarian relief operations in earthquake-devastated Pakistan. To give readers a sense of its global presence, we've depicted where Navy ships were on April 11. In addition to ship deployments, about 10,000 sailors were working on the ground in U.S. Central Command's area of operations, from the Horn of Africa through Central Asia, most directly supporting combat operations in Iraq or Afghanistan.
