NSA Gets Down to Business
he National Security Agency is making a name for itself in the business world. The NSA was recently selected as an "emerging best practice" organization in the area of knowledge management by the International Benchmarking Clearinghouse of the American Productivity and Quality Center.
NSA, one of 11 organizations asked to participate in the benchmarking study, was recognized for realizing that employee assets such as skill, knowledge and information are more valuable to a company than physical and financial assets. NSA was singled out for its innovative use of information technology; application of the Defense Department's Joint Universal Lessons Learned program; and development of practice centers to enhance sharing of knowledge on topics such as software engineering.
Other organizations recognized include such businesses as Arthur Andersen, Price Waterhouse, Chevron Corp. and Dow Chemical Co.
