A Candid Survey of Benefits Administration Officers in the Federal Government

Benefits administration provides life-saving services to millions of Americans every year. Those who work in these agencies are often the frontline of government, working to serve veterans, struggling families, and those who are unemployed or without homes, among others. The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed more people into vulnerable situations, exacerbating need for government assistance and putting pressure on benefits administration systems and processes.

During a time when people are seeking government help more than ever, how has the landscape of benefits administration changed? What challenges are those on the frontlines seeing?
