A new cross-platform app is helping U.S. Army recruiters access candidate records and track communications on-the-go via their smartphones. The Enterprise Total Asset Visibility (ETAV) app was introduced to Army recruiting leadership in October 2017, and within one month of its launch, approximately 4,700 Army Active, Army Reserve and Army National Guard recruiters had downloaded and were using the application.
Before the app was launched, recruiters previously used their standard-issued Windows laptops to access information on candidate leads and locations. Now, recruiters can simply tap the ETAV app on their iOS or Android smartphones and instantly search for candidates by location and communicate with them via text message, email or phone call. Army recruiters are constantly on the move, and the location-aware functionality of the app uses the phone’s GPS to let them access Google Maps to see where the nearest candidates are. The app automatically updates contact history for each candidate, and communications can be captured for future reference.
Using it for the first time, one recruiter said he felt like a kid on Christmas. ETAV holds the distinction of being the first DOD-approved government off-the-shelf mobile application to be made available in the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) mobile store.
