As reported exclusively by Route Fifty.

To better understand the major management challenges facing state and local government agencies, Route Fifty and Government Business Council launched a nationwide survey in November 2017. The study covers topics in six major management areas, ranked and evaluated by 365 public sector respondents who represent forty-eight states, numerous counties and municipalities, and a diverse range of mission areas. Nearly two-thirds of survey respondents (64%) are elected / appointed officials or executive salaried managers. The margin of error is +/-5.5%.
