Robert Ames
Senior Vice President, Advanced Analytics Practice,

Robert Ames is a Senior Vice President on the Technology staff at In-Q-Tel. In this role, he leads the technical strategy in support of IQT’s investments in Advanced Analytics. Robert works closely with government leaders to identify, adapt, and deliver high value innovations from start-up companies to support vital government missions. His focus and expertise is in the areas of Big Data, Advanced Analytics, Cloud Computing, and Systems Virtualization, and Automation technologies. Prior to his role at IQT, Robert was Director and Deputy CTO for IBM Federal. His role at IBM was to provide insight on his customer’s greatest challenges to IBM’s research and development organizations, and to build partnerships between IBM and its Federal clients. Those partnerships stretched technical boundaries and solved major problems as the government sought to modernize its computing and analytical capabilities, from the Navy’s shipboard environment, to the government’s largest data centers. Robert is a regular speaker at industry conferences, and is internationally recognized for his expertise in his Big Data and Cloud Computing. Information technology is Robert’s second career. Prior to embarking on this career, he was a professional opera singer, most recently singing with The Washington Opera.

Eva Andreasson

Eva Andreasson has been working with JVMs, SOA, Cloud, and infrastructure software for 15+ years. She has two patents on JVM garbage collection heuristics and algorithms. She also pioneered Deterministic GC which was productized as JRockit Real Time at BEA Systems (bef. Oracle). After two years as product manager for Zing at Azul Systems, she joined Cloudera in 2012 to help drive the future of distributed data processing through Cloudera's Distribution of Hadoop. Since, she has worked with the projects Hue, ZooKeeper, Oozie, and other components. In 2013 she initiated and launched Cloudera Search. More recently she drove the partner-showcase and easy-to-get-started trial experience of Cloudera Live.

Emma Antunes
Special Assistant to the Chief Information Officer, NASA

Emma Antunes is the Special Assistant to the CIO for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, responsible for strategy, program management, and governance of IT. An early adopter with 17 years of experience managing web services, Emma pioneered the development of social media applications at NASA and pushed for the for the web to be seen not simply as a communications medium, but as a powerful tool for business transformation. Her strength is in analysis and in using IT to achieve business goals, with emphasis on effective information management and collaboration. Emma holds a Bachelor's Degree from Boston University.

Dave Bennett
Director, Implementation and Sustainment Center, Defense Information Systems Agency

Mr. David Bennett is the Director, Implementation and Sustainment Center with DISA where he is responsible for the implementation and sustainment of all capabilities within the DISA Service Catalog including all communications and computing. Previously, he served as CIO where he was responsible for the delivery and operation of secure world-wide enterprise information technology services enabling the efficient and effective execution of DISA’s global combat support mission. Mr. Bennett began his career when commissioned as an Armor Officer through the Army R.O.T.C. program at the University of Southern Mississippi in 1977. Over the course of his 30 year military career, he has commanded at all levels from platoon to brigade level. He has served as Project Manager for numerous Army and Joint Information Technology Programs. Mr. Bennett came to DISA in 1998 and has held several leadership positions. In January 2007, he entered the Senior Executive Service at DISA serving as the Deputy Program Executive Officer for Command and Control and in 2010, he became the Program Executive Officer for GIG Enterprise Services. In May 2012, he was selected to be the Chief Information Officer for the Agency. Leveraging the success he achieved over a 13-month period he was given the additional responsibility of converging the office of the CIO with the Enterprise Services Directorate resulting in the newly created Enterprise Information Services (EIS) Directorate. As the Principal Director of EIS/CIO, Mr. Bennett is responsible for the development and provisioning of DoD Enterprise Services, provisioning of DoD capability in core data centers, and providing IT capability to the Agency on a global basis. Mr. Bennett has numerous military awards, including the Defense Superior Service medal and the Legion of Merit. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi in February 1977, a Master’s of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida in 1986, and a Master’s Degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at Ft. McNair in 1998.

David Corlette

For the past eight years David has helped develop innovative threat detection and response solutions. He also chairs event standardization working groups at the Distributed Management Task Force and The Open Group, which he hopes will ultimately make security analysts’ jobs easier.

Nick Curcuru

Nick has worked for nearly 20 years in operations and consulting, delivering analytics solutions. He works with the executive suite cascading to the operational level to enable data driven strategy for organizations. Nick joined MasterCard Advisors from the SAS Institute where he brings his extensive experience in the use of advanced analytics and big data. Prior to the SAS Nick worked for Andersen Consulting. He has extensive experience in retail, manufacturing, transportation, hospitality, entertainment , media and communications. Nick received his MBA from Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. He also has advanced certifications from Cornell School of Hotel Management and the Project Management Institute. He has contributed to several books in his career including Arthur Andersen's Global Lessons in Activity-Based Management, John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1999 and The House Advantage Playing the Odds to Win Big in Business, Palgrave McMillan 2010.

Stephen Dennis
Innovation Director, Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA) Science and Technology Directorate, Department of Homeland Security

Stephen Dennis provides leadership and guidance for data analytics within the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA) of the Science & Technology (S&T) Directorate and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Mr. Dennis provides technical guidance for information analysis, collaboration and sharing related to Big Data research and development at DHS. Mr. Dennis also serves as the S&T APEX Program Manager for the Border Enforcement Analytics Program to improve utilization of DHS Big Data sources for ICE Homeland Security Investigations. He has over thirty years of experience managing research programs in information analysis and processing automation within the Intelligence & Defense Communities and other federal agencies. Mr. Dennis holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a BS in Computer Engineering from Clemson University in SC.

Dr. Daniel Duffy 
High Performance Computing Lead, NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS)

Dr. Daniel Duffy is head of the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS, Code 606.2), which provides high performance computing, storage, networking, and data systems designed to meet the specialized needs of the Earth science modeling communities. He has worked on a number of applied research and development projects to explore technologies for the next generation of high performance computing solutions for NASA scientists, including being the co-Investigator on the MERRA Analytics Service Project, which has lead to the formulation of Climate Analytics-as-a-Service (CAaaS). Prior to being the high performance computing lead, Dan served as the lead system engineer for the NCCS over the past 10 years where he has architected dramatic increases in computational and storage capabilities for NASA scientists. Before joining NASA in 2003, Dan worked on highly parallel applications for the Department of Defense (DoD).

Tim Estes

Tim Estes is the Chairman, CEO, and founder for Digital Reasoning, a leader in cognitive computing. Tim’s academic work at the University of Virginia focused in the areas of Philosophy of Language, Mathematical Logic, Semiotics, Epistemology, and Phenomenology. It was that eclectic academic background, coupled with the belief that in the future all software would learn from data as a core capability that gave rise to Digital Reasoning. Tim and his team at Digital Reasoning work closely with leaders in government and industry to solve extraordinarily valuable and morally compelling problems in National Security, Finance, and other markets by automating the understanding of human communication.

Eddie Garcia

Eddie Garcia is chief security architect at Cloudera, a leader in enterprise analytic data management. Eddie helps Cloudera enterprise customers reduce security and compliance risks associated with sensitive data sets stored and accessed in Apache Hadoop environments. Working in the office of the CTO, Eddie also provides security thought leadership and vision to the Cloudera product roadmap. Formerly the VP of InfoSec and Engineering for Gazzang prior to its acquisition by Cloudera, Eddie architected and implemented secure and compliant Big Data infrastructures for customers in the financial services, healthcare and public sector industries to meet PCI, HIPAA, FERPA, FISMA and EU data security requirements. He was also the chief architect of the Gazzang zNcrypt product and is author of two patents for data security.

Audie Hittle

Audie Hittle joined EMC as the Federal Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Emerging Technologies Division in November 2012, where his responsibilities span defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies. He has more than 30 years of information technology experience, including a 22 year U.S. Air Force (USAF) C4ISR career. Through his leadership, Hittle supports EMC’s mission to enable government agencies to transform their operations and deliver IT-as-a-Service. In addition to his duties at EMC, Hittle is a founding member and serves on the Board of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) New England Chapter, and serves on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan Fellows Program in Innovation and Global Leadership. Hittle is a Level III, top-ranked, Acquisition Program Manager and Systems Planning Research, Development, and Engineering Professional. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (University of New Mexico), Master of Science in Engineering Management (Western New England College), Master’s-Level Certificate from the Air Command and Staff College, and Joint Master’s Degree in Engineering and Business Management, in the Management of Technology (MIT School of Engineering and the Sloan School).

Juliet Hougland

Juliet is a recent addition to Cloudera’s data science team. She has spent the last 3 years working on a variety of Big Data applications from e-commerce recommendations to predictive analytics for oil and gas pipelines. She holds an MS in Applied Mathematics from University of Colorado, Boulder and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Reed College with a BA in Math-Physics.

Freemon Johnson
Senior Computer Scientist, Department of State

Mr. Freemon Johnson possesses overall 17yrs. of experience that encompasses software development and information assurance. Prior to the U.S. Department of State where he is a Senior Computer Scientist, he has worked at DISA, NIST, NASA and Motorola. Mr. Johnson has published for InTech publication, ISA99 Working Group for SmartGrid security requirements, NISTIR working groups and NIST Manuscript Publications, and NASA GSFC mission portals. He holds the following certifications: CSM from Scrum Alliance, and CISSP from ISC2. His educational background is the following: BS Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Master of Communication and Information Studies from Rutgers University and Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Johnson is currently the technical lead for the DHS CDM program and the architect and team lead for DoS internal CDM program. 

Greg Jones

Greg is a Director in Deloitte’s Federal Information Management service line, where he leads the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Competency Area. Greg has been in the Data Management industry for over 25 years. He has led successful large scale Data Management implementations for a wide range of Federal and Commercial clients while working for Deloitte, Hewlett Packard, Business Objects and Oracle. An expert in all phases of strategy and implementation, Greg is especially noted for his work in driving a business-led approach to Analytics, Data Warehousing and Master Data Management. In addition to his Information Management responsibilities, Greg assumes the role of Confidential Information Program Champion for Deloitte’s Federal Government services practice. In this role, Greg is responsible for defining programs, policies and procedures to safeguard all forms of confidential information for Deloitte and its Federal clients. Greg speaks frequently at industry events and has been a monthly columnist for DM Review and Oracle Magazines. He has presented on numerous occasions at conferences and other Information Management related-related seminars.

Murthy Mathiprakasam

Murthy Mathiprakasam is a Principal Product Marketing Manager for Informatica’s Big Data products. Murthy has a decade and a half of experience working with emerging high-growth software technologies including roles at Mercury Interactive/HP, Google, eBay, VMware, and Oracle. Murthy joined Informatica’s Big Data team to drive broader awareness and education around Informatica’s comprehensive suite of data preparation solutions for data stored in Hadoop. Prior to Informatica, he worked at Oracle in the Database Server Technologies team focusing on data warehousing and big data solutions. Prior to Oracle, Murthy led product marketing for VMware’s infrastructure-as-a-service solution driving early adoption amongst local, state, and federal agencies. Murthy holds a Master of Science in Management Science from Stanford University, and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Management Science and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Skip is an intelligence officer specialized in large-scale intelligence data systems and teams. Prior posts include Technical Director at The Interoperability Clearinghouse and Lead Engineer in Multidisciplinary Network Systems & Distributed Systems at MITRE. He has also co-authored several books including "AntiPatterns: Refactoring Software. Architectures, and Projects in Crisis", "AntiPatterns in Project Management", and "AntiPatterns and Patterns in Software Configuration".

Rob Morrow
Senior Systems Engineer, Cloudera

Rob has been in the computer industry for over 18 years, 14 of which has been in the service of US Intelligence Community. Having already served in the United States Air Force, Rob began his career by doing Ph.D.-program research in the area of Artificial Intelligence at the University of California, Riverside in 1998. Artificial Intelligence is an early predecessor to what we now call Machine Learning, a sub-discipline of Data Science. Rob's focus was on the mathematical representation and modeling of human-like semantic memory processes in machines using models such as LSI and HAL. Having written several peer-reviewed scientific journal articles on those topics as well as advanced laboratory-based research, Rob went to work for Sun Microsystems where he first began working on Intelligence problems in earnest for the NRO and other agencies first as a Regional Engineer and later a Solution Architect. During that time Rob worked on a host of different problems for the IC, including contributions to FBI’s case management system (Sentinel), IRS fraud systems, and the CIA. After the acquisition of Sun Microsystems by Oracle Corporation, Rob became the Engineered Systems Architect for their National Security Group (NSG), seeing it as a way to make a difference by applying the right technology, smartly, to IC problems. At NSG, Rob designed advanced solutions for data management problems for the entire IC. One of those solution was the application of advanced algorithms to the problem of “Big Data” for the Oracle Big Data Appliance. After acquiring advanced skills and knowledge in the area of Hadoop and Big Data, Rob joined Cloudera’s National Security Programs group in order to return to his early work in the area of Data Science and Machine Learning. Today Rob is the thought leader of applying Data Science methods available in Hadoop and Cloudera’s Enterprise Data Hub to the intelligence problems in the NRO and CIA. Rob’s early contributions in this area include algorithms for representing and automating intelligence analysis, and he leads the Engineering effort to get Cloudera working on problems that matter in the context of the ICITE environment. Rob currently leads the C2S integration effort and routinely works with thought leaders from the Data Science Career Service to advance algorithms and solutions in that area.

Sanjay Nayar

Mr. Sanjay Nayar is the Director of Advanced Analytics and Decision Sciences for Great-Circle Technologies, Inc. (GCT)1, based in Chantilly, VA. He leads multi-disciplinary teams for GCT, a small business serving Federal Clients, in providing decision support for complex enterprise-level systems. Mr. Nayar has been working with Hadoop, Mahout, SAS, MongoDB, Python, and related BigData technologies for the past 5 years. He also leads a multi-agency Advanced Analytics Working Group that meets several times a year across the DC Metro area. Mr. Nayar holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Computational Social Science at George Mason University. His professional and research interests include modeling complex socio-technical systems that characterize the modern organization, as well as parallel and distributed computing. Mr. Nayar has previously held positions ranging from Software Engineer, to Project Manager, Managing Consultant, and Technical Director at IBM and Computer Sciences Corporation..

Mike Olson
Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder, Cloudera

Mike co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as its CEO until 2013 when he took on his current role of chief strategy officer (CSO.) As CSO, Mike is responsible for Cloudera’s product strategy, open source leadership, engineering alignment and direct engagement with customers. Prior to Cloudera Mike was CEO of Sleepycat Software, makers of Berkeley DB, the open source embedded database engine. Mike spent two years at Oracle Corporation as vice president for Embedded Technologies after Oracle’s acquisition of Sleepycat in 2006. Prior to joining Sleepycat, Mike held technical and business positions at database vendors Britton Lee, Illustra Information Technologies and Informix Software. Mike has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Steve Orrin

Steve Orrin is Chief Technologist for Intel Corp¹s Federal Division and is responsible for Cyber Security and Cloud Strategy, Architecture and Engagements. Steve has held architectural leadership positions at Intel where he has led strategy and projects on Identity, Anti-malware, HTML5 Security, Cloud and Virtualization Security, and is the creator of Trusted Compute Pools Secure Cloud Architecture. Steve joined Intel as part of the acquisition of Sarvega, Inc. where he was their CSO. Steve was previously CTO of Sanctum, a pioneer in Web application security testing and firewall software. Prior to joining Sanctum, Steve was CTO and co-founder of LockStar, Inc. LockStar provided enterprises with the means to secure and XML/Web Service enable legacy mainframe and enterprise applications for e-business. Steve joined LockStar from SynData Technologies, Inc. where he was CTO and chief architect of their desktop e-mail and file security product. Steve is a recognized expert and frequent lecturer on enterprise security and was named one of InfoWorld's Top 25 CTO's of 2004 and, in 2009, was named a fellow at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies. Steve is a member of AFCEA, ISACA, IACR and is a co-Founder and Officer of WASC (Web Application Security Consortium).

Mike Sutten

Mike Sutten is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Kaiser Permanente. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 2013. Mike Leads the CTO Organization, which is responsible for setting future technology direction. Prior to Kaiser Permanente, he served as CTO and deputy CIO within the U.S. government where he was recognized for exemplary leadership. Mike has over twenty years of experience in CTO and CIO leadership with Fortune 500 organizations such as, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Sybase, Koch Industries and General Electric. He has an MBA in Information Systems from the University of San Diego and a BS in Engineering from Iowa State University.

Doug Wolfe
Chief Information Officer, Central Intelligence Agency 

Doug Wolfe was selected to serve as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the CIA in October 2013, after serving as Deputy CIO for just over a year. In his role as CIO, he oversees the Agency Information Technology (IT) vision and strategic direction and is an advisor to the Intelligence Community (IC) CIO in shaping the larger IC IT strategy. Prior to joining the CIO’s office, he served as Deputy Director for Acquisition, Technology, and Facilities at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). Doug joined the CIA in August 1984. He worked for 16 years as a part of the CIA component in the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and was involved in the launch and operations of multiple satellite systems. He partnered with the aerospace industry to develop new technologies and innovative collection concepts. His last position at the NRO was as the Director of Legislate Liaison. Doug’s next assignments were in the Directorate of Science and Technology (DS&T), working in an office responsible for inventing new sources and methods. These efforts resulted in several large acquisitions, and Doug served as program manager through the initial operations of a new system. Continuing in that office, he was then assigned as the Deputy Director, leading and managing the development and operation of multiple innovative access systems. As Deputy CIO, Doug worked to connect mission systems and enterprise information technologies. He focused on integrating data collection from diverse sources and developing a strategy for advanced analytics. Mission elements are now planning increased use of enterprise systems as technology advances and increased efficiencies are realized. Prior to joining the CIA, Doug worked at Rocketdyne in Canoga Park, CA on the Space Shuttle’s main engine program. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Master’s degree in System Engineering from Virginia Tech. He resides in Vienna, VA with his wife and daughter.
