Enrollment in dental and vision coverage—under the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, or FEDVIP—will be opened up in future to some federal employees outside of the normal open period, according to an Office of Personnel Management final rule.
The rule, which was published in a July 16 Federal Register notice, states that qualifying life events may become “qualifying life events” that will allow some employees to effect benefit changes, immediately.
Those events may include marriage, having pension or pay restored after termination, or other events.
