The Competitive Landscape of Federal IT Procurement
Findings from a recent GBC survey indicate that misuse and abuse of federal acquisition regulations undermine the principle of vendor neutrality and the competitive landscape of federal IT procurement.
Given the rapid pace of innovation in information technology, IT acquisition poses a unique challenge to federal procurement offices, whose job it is to maximize competition among suppliers and to ensure that the government achieves the highest possible value for IT products and services. New survey findings show that federal acquisition regulations are oftentimes misused or ignored for a variety of reasons, a trend that could lead to wasteful spending and undermine public trust in the process.
