Two arrested after Border Patrol agent’s slaying

Mexican troops arrested two suspects thought to be involved with the killing of Customs and Border Protection agent Nicholas Ivie, according to news reports.
A Mexican Army officer told Reuters that the two suspects were found and detained by the Mexican military in the city of Agua Prieta, located in the northern state of Sonora, several miles from where Ivie was shot.
Ivie, 30, a father of two from Utah, was living in the nearby town of Sierra Vista, Ariz. He was on horseback patrol Monday with two other agents near Highway 80 close to Bisbee, Ariz., after responding to a tripped ground sensor alert. An attack on the agents left Ivie dead and another wounded. The third agent was said to have been unharmed.
The Washington Post noted that Ivie was shot 50 miles from the area where Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was killed in 2010. Subsequent investigations found that weapons from the Justice Department’s controversial Fast and Furious operation were used in Terry’s death.
